Da’Vine Joy Randolph picked up a Best Supporting Actress win at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards for her fine work in The Holdovers, and not coincidentally, served up one of her most polished looks on the red carpet.
The fit is fitting, the sparkles are sparkling, the shoes are perfectly chosen, and the head styling looks great. That gathering at the waist is perfectly executed, giving her a shape but not adding any bulk or volume. If we have one quibble, and it’s a really minor one, we think black sheer tights would have finished off the look nicely, giving it just a bit more formality and making it look January-in-New-York appropriate. But it’s a great look (a pretty much perfect LBD) and we’re looking forward to seeing how she steps up her game in the days ahead.
