On her longtime crush on Richard Gere: “I used to love Richard Gere. Pretty Woman is one of my favorite movies in the whole wide world. I would always go out on a little terrace fire escape, put my hair down, and just picture Richard Gere with the roses in his mouth. I love me some Richard Gere.”

On the first paid acting job he ever had: “It was a Japanese McDonald’s commercial, and it was quite traumatic because I had to eat about 40 burgers that day. I remember driving home that night and saying to myself, ‘I don’t know if I can do this job.’”

Recalling where she was when she found out she was cast in Bridgerton: “I worked as a cocktail waitress. I was so bad at it. I’d spill drinks over everyone. I thought about giving up acting, but I’d get sucked back in quite quickly. And then there was Bridgerton. When they told me I had the part, I was at Urth Caffé in L.A., and I nearly passed out. My schedule came in, and it was Monday, horseback riding; Tuesday, piano lessons; Wednesday, dance lessons. My life changed overnight.”

On what’s harder to film: love scenes or wrestling scenes: “Love scenes and fighting scenes have a different level of absurdity. You can’t take yourself seriously in either scenario, or you just end up feeling like an idiot. But wrestling is very pragmatic. Love scenes are complicated, just like in life.

On how they shot the intimate scenes in Passages“The sex scenes in Passages are quite strong. You just want it to be cool, great, and fast— not spending two hours making this scene, because we all have our complexes! But yeah, I love it because it’s not like an incarnation of perfect sex with the perfect lighting and stuff. Our sex is messy!”

On auditioning for George Clooney: “I sent a tape, and George liked it. Then we got on a Skype. Everyone was talking, and I didn’t really know what was going on. I asked to redo the first scene. George went, ‘Here’s the thing—we’re going to give you the part. We just wanted to see if we could put up with you for six months. And I think maybe we can.”

Remembering which movie star she had a crush on growing up: “Lots! I remember watching Dirty Dancing and I was, of course, in love with Patrick Swayze. I wanted to be Baby!”
