We’re more than ambivalent about Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. For one, it’s got Ryan Murphy all over it and we long ago got tired of his dollhouse approach to filmmaking. He dresses up all of his favorite divas and just has them chew the scenery, which doesn’t sound terrible when we put it that way, but the returns have been diminishing for some time now. Having said that, we’re absolutely going to watch it for three reasons: 1) the cast, 2) the costume design, and 3) Chloe Sevigny, who is also in the cast but deserves her own entry.
She may just have settled on the very best sitting-down frock of all time. It’s dramatic and glamorous. It keeps the focus on her face but lets her deploy a little leg action, and it looks incredibly comfy to wear. We tend to hate big bows in fashion just about as much as we dislike the trend for overusing black pumps, but we honestly can’t find fault with any of this. We can’t wait to see what characters she creates for her red carpet appearances.
