We simply had to give Anne Hathaway’s eye-popping Versace look the spotlight (not to mention IN or OUT) treatment, but she wasn’t the only one who showed up at the Clooneys’ little social justice shindig sporting a look worth discussing. Socially aware celebrities? Line up for judgment.
Amal Clooney (in Versace) and George Clooney
It’s a little hard to tell from this shot, but her gown is covered in crystals. This is the best either of them have looked in quite some time. Not that they ever looked bad, but her style is sometimes questionable and his style often rests on him being George Clooney.
Cindy Crawford in Atelier Versace
She’s working the hell out of it, but it’s a cheap-looking frock that borders on ugly.
Emily Blunt (in Zuhair Murad) and John Krasinski
They look fine, but her dress is a little boring and we’re annoyed by the mismatched clutch, which would work better if it was several shades further away from the red of the gown.
Greta Gerwig in Oscar de la Renta
That’s the smile of a woman who’s currently riding the best career wave of her life. The gown is gorgeous, if a little shapeless.
Heidi Klum in Tony Ward Couture
This is admirably restrained, both for her and for Tony Ward.
Jodie Turner-Smith in Balmain
A gorgeous design, but it sits a little low on her and we’d have liked some sort of necklace or pendant with it.
Julianna Margulies in Versace
A lovely gown, but the accessories would’ve been better if they weren’t pink. Also, the makeup is a little harsh.
Julianne Moore in Versace
This may be the plainest thing she’s ever worn in public. She actually looks great in it, though. Could’ve used some more jewelry.
Mary J. Blige in Tony Ward Couture
Diva, you had us until we got to the skirt.
Mj Rodriguez in Lever Couture
What’s with all the matchy-match happening on this red carpet? We kinda think she’s the only person in the world who can make this dress work.
Nina Dobrev in Atelier Versace
Meh. Seen it a million times.
Rachel Weisz (in Louis Vuitton) and Daniel Craig
The quintessential “looking for a third” couple. He looks great. So does she, but the dress is only okay.
Scarlett Johansson in Veronica de Piante
It’s simple, but it mostly works for her. The fit could be better.
Sofia Vergara in Nadine Merabi
We think we might like it better with the jacket on and with a little less flare to those pants.
Viola Davis in Atelier Versace
Absolutely gorgeous. We knew she could work whites and bright, bold colors, but apparently, pastels are her friend as well.
