Salma Hayek kept things simple for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of El Sabor de Navidad, the anthology film for which she served as producer. That would seem to us to be the right way to go for any star on a red carpet who’s not there as the actual star of the film. So this all seems exceedingly appropriate:

But is it good? Our first reaction was a very positive one, but the longer we look at it, the more we think the styling isn’t working and the design isn’t perhaps the best one for her. She’s got t-shirt boobs, which are fine when you’re wearing a t-shirt, not so much when you’re in a fitted gown. We can understand why she wouldn’t want to go too grandiose here, but this look practically screams for jewelry. We’d also have rec’d an up do, as well as a ritual burning of that hideous clutch and a rethink on the idea of black shoes with this. We don’t know… she doesn’t look bad, but there are a lot of questionable choices on display here. You make the call.
