You know how that old saying goes: When God closes a red carpet, He opens a watch store. Or something like that. We’ve been saying since the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike that stars were going to find unique ways to keep themselves out there and in front of cameras (always a major component of an A-lister’s career). It just took them a little while to adjust. It reminds us of the first few months of lockdown, when we kept imploring stars to put on nice clothes and pose next to their pools, which they all wound up doing in the end. Listen to the bitches more often, celebs. Anyway, here’s A-lister Charlize Theron, dressed to the nines in Givenchy to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Meatpacking District.

We’re not sure it’s working. The bodice is interesting. We love the sandals. After that? Meh. She tends to throw men’s-style blazers over everything, but we’re not sure this one is doing anything for the dress except obscure it and fight with the black satin of the skirt. Also, the jewelry feels kind of random. There’s no rule that says she has to do this, but usually when a star is on tap to promote a watch, they’ll dress in a way that shows off the watch they’re wearing.
