There’s no denying or doubting her love for her duet partner. One of the things we noted after her memorable Oscars stage appearance with Liza Minelli is her clearly sincere and heartfelt love and respect for her forebears. When you get right down to it, she’s a Good Italian Girl who respects her elders. She also knows how to dress for an occasion. As we’ve noted before, when she’s in Tony Bennett’s Partner mode, the looks are classic throwbacks in the chanteuse mode, in deference to the music and the man. In other words, if you know your fashion history and you’re thinking she looks like she’s heading to the Village Vanguard for her weekly set in 1962, congratulations. You win a prize today. As always, Gaga knows what she’s doing when it comes to fashion and image. The dress is fine, but the styling is what really takes it somewhere. The hat, bag and shades are all perfect.
