Barbie star Issa Rae stopped by the Good Morning America studios in order to NOT talk about how her outrageously popular, zeitgeist-dominating movie is about to hit the billion-dollar mark. Instead, she was there to talk about a matter dear to heart: mentorship. All we’ll say about it is that the timing was incredibly beneficial and we suspect she got GMA to use a long planned promotional appearance for the film to focus on something important without breaking the terms of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Actually, we lied. That isn’t all we’re going to say. There’s the little matter of her super-sweet, totally non-Barbie look for the occasion:
We’ll always love a cute summer crochet ensemble if it’s lightweight and simple, like this one is. We can’t tell from these angles, but we feel like she might have benefitted from not wearing the skirt so high. A gentle half-inch downward tug might have made the proportions work better. Still, it’s cute. We love the shoes and the bag. We’re not big sticklers about those pieces needing to match, but we think a deeper brown or bronze sandal might have been nice.
