Sometimes, a dress we might find questionable wins us over because it’s on the right wearer in the right setting. Sarah Michelle Gellar looks delighted to be getting a hand and footprint ceremony at the Canneseries International Festival and her frock just feels right for the occasion.
Do we like the ruffled shoulders or the cutouts? The stripes, color story or pleated bust? Pretty much no to all of it. But she’s on the Riviera, the breeze is blowing, and she’s really winning us over in it. We have to begrudgingly admit that it’s pretty cute, despite having a bunch of elements we don’t like. It’s a sum-greater-than-its-parts kind of thing, as good style so often is. We think the shoes work with it but we don’t love the black clutch.
