The stars came out to brave the famously harsh British sunlight (…?) to honor the very best in British theater – and also to serve looks, for which we are grateful during this nominally post-awards season period. Not so grateful that we don’t intend to be bitches about their choices, though. Heavens, no.

This is extremely on brand but it doesn’t necessarily feel stale. The slightly retro style suits her of course, but it’s the beading on the belt and the bust that really makes the design.

We’re not super-crazy about this style, which we call “abbreviated ballgown,” but if anyone can work an off the shoulder aubergine velvet gown with a mini-skirt, it’s her. We just wish the hair looked a little less casual.

Another abbreviated ballgown except this one’s just plain ugly. Sorry, Jodie. Shouldn’t have left the house wearing this one.

So we’re getting a short skirt-with-a-train sort of theme here. We’d like to say this would be improved without the table runner train, but the rest of the dress isn’t so hot either.

He looks very hot-cute, but our patience with the Colonel Sanders tie trend is starting to wear thin. We hate to get salty about any trend that challenges the incredibly stodgy standards of conventional western menswear, but there’s also our longstanding dislike of overly precious or twee elements in fashion. We’re feeling very conflicted.

Points for wearing something interesting and dramatic, but the shape and length of the skirt is kind of terrible and that neck train looks downright dangerous.
