Aside from being a fantastic actress who can make a simple line like “These are tortillas” land as both hilarious and devastatingly judgmental, Hong Chau also evidently has a talent for making dresses that we hated on another wearer look fantastic on her.

This is lovely and elegant. It’s also miles away from how it looked when Claire Foy wore a different version of it a few months ago. The fuller skirt makes all the difference in the world. We can’t say we’ve covered her enough that we can sum up her style effectively, but she does seem to prefer low-key elegance without too much fuss or flamboyance. This dress is a great way for her to look stylish and photogenic without having to pile on the design elements and accessories. Having said that, we think the styling could use some adjustments. The opera glove trend is reaching its saturation point, but we’re not entirely sick of them. We think a black pair would have worked so much better than these sheers, which always make the wearer look wrinkly. We love the ear clip but we think the hair is a little severe. A necklace would have been nice. And while we can understand why anyone would rather wear a closed toe shoe than a sandal, we really think this dress calls for the latter.
