Hey, do you want to look at three fabulous women at the Alexander McQueen show? Of course you do! Why else would you be here, reading (or more likely, scrolling past) these words?
Do we have quibbles about their outfits? OF COURSE we do, darlings! Why else would we be here, writing these words? But unlike a red carpet appearance, a front row slot for a celebrity is far less about promoting themselves (although every public appearance, at baseline, amounts to some form of self-promotion) and far more about modeling the house’s wares and posing for pictures. It’s kind of the price of your ticket, so to speak.
Letitia Wright
This is pretty fantastic. It’s the only look of the three for which we have no critiques or recommendations. We love the design of that jacket and how it allows her to wear it over a dress without completely obscuring the garment underneath. The hair and booties make the perfect finishing touches for the look.
Janet Jackson
She looks great here (although we think a lot of designers/stylists default to this sort of severe black suiting for her too often). We don’t think the splits in the sleeves make any sense and we wish the pants had about an inch take off the hem.
Sheila Atim
The color is really pretty on her and we love the juxtaposition of the light skirt and heavy, dark sandals. We just don’t like the construction on that bodice. It’s a little too close to a bib.
