Abbott Elementary star and creator Quinta Brunson stepped up to the red carpet at the 74th Emmys and declared herself a major star and creative force in television, using fashion to make a statement about her own rising star power.
We love a good bronze fashion moment and we tend to think it’s the most tragically underutilized of metallics on most red carpets. That bodice is absolutely gorgeous. We just wish the skirt didn’t look so flimsy in comparison to it. We also don’t think the gloves are necessary, but they’re on trend and this is her moment to come out as a major star, so we don’t blame her for wanting to look like the latest and hottest thing. The shoes are gorgeous. It’s a really strong, triumphant look but it’s also sexy and glamorous. She said she wanted to look like a “teeny tiny Jessica Rabbit” in her red carpet interview with Laverne Cox and we’d say she definitely got her wish. We still don’t love that D&G has such a hold on the celebrity red carpet, but there’s no denying that they’re very good at giving them the kind of highly discussable, focus-pulling looks they want.
