Let’s check in on a quartet of stylish British stars who stopped by the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview party. Just for funsies.
David Oyelowo
This is remarkably toned-down for him. He has a well-documented love of/preference for African prints and velvet loafers in his style choices, but maybe he’s feeling all coolly minimalist at the moment. If we’re being nitpicky, we’d note that the loafers are a shade off and that he could use an undershirt.
Hayley Atwell in Edeline Lee
Hmm. It doesn’t quite come together as well as it should. The idea of pairing a plain white top with that regal, ballgown-appropriate skirt isn’t a bad one, but the effect isn’t achieved because the shirt’s not a great one and there’s too much aggressive accessorizing going on’ earrings too big, too many focus-pulling rings, a bag that’s frankly ugly, and shoes that absolutely don’t go with the rest of it.
Laura Carmichael
This is adorable and she’s really well-suited to it. She should play with twee glam styles a little more. We keep seeing those shoes this month and we don’t like them any more than the first time we saw them.
Luke Evans
It’s classic summer style and he fills it all out very nicely, but if we’re going to be nitpicky, we’ll note that the sweater should be a shade or two further off from the white of the pants.
