This is pretty much perfect casual male red carpet style, as far as we’re concerned. It’s dressy and photogenic enough for an occasion like this, but he’s  not dressed like he works in an office. We think there are better, more interesting kicks to choose than those, however. Love the touch of color and sparkle on the face, which is pleasantly surprising and really elevates the look for him.

If you removed the ruffles completely, we think this whole look would come together much better. Sporting pants with a standard gown or dress is always a dicey proposition – especially if you want the pants to be flared and sequined – but the only part of this look that really bugs us are the ruffles/flounces. Get rid of them and you’re serving us Disco Leia, which we would be duty-bound to love. The hair and makeup are gorgeous and the hoops are fabulous.

Once again, we are unable to critique The Goldblum for serving The Goldblum so well and succinctly. It’s why we can’t bring ourselves to complain about how repetitive his style tends to be. It’s such a precise and crystal-clear reflection of who he is that it doesn’t matter if it feels like we’ve seen him wear this a dozen times before. Having said that, his tie is too short.

We really hate to be so nitpicky here, but this design just isn’t great for her. The color’s lovely and the silhouette works, but it looks like it’s more or less a caftan with a sash tied high on the waist. There’s no shape to it, so everything above the sash is bulky and more voluminous than it needs to be. To make matters exponentially worse, she’s sporting some sort of horrifying sleeve/yoke/bust hybrid element. We know she’s made some comments in the past about not being able to secure high fashion pieces and buying stuff off the rack, but we can’t help but see that as some sort of blind spot or triggered response to a stressful matter on her part, if only because of the undeniable number of plus size celebrity women who manage to secure good high fashion pieces for their public appearances. She clearly likes fashion or at least understands its importance in her career, or she wouldn’t be picking such relatively fussy looks to wear in public. She just needs someone to hone her instincts, play into her preferences, and point in her in the right direction. Honey, hire a stylist.
