Ariana DeBose Promotes “West Side Story” in Akris

We noted the last time we covered Ariana DeBose that her promotional style has gotten more and more subdued as the Oscar buzz increases around her West Side Story performance. Sometimes stars tamp down a little too hard on their own personal style (like Rami Malek promoting Bohemian Rhapsody) or ramp things up to Vogue-cover levels (like Anne Hathaway promoting Les Miserables). It seems like Ariana and her team are finding a happy medium lately.

It’s simple and photogenic with a slightly high-fashion feel, but it also looks a lot like a dancer’s dress. We don’t think we love the texture, nor are we entirely convinced that the shoes aren’t a little distracting with it, but like we said: it feels like she’s dressing to dance, which isn’t the worst way to promote your Anita turn. She looks really cute and we love the hair and makeup.
