Say what you will about Emily in Paris star Lily Collins, you simply cannot fault her for not understanding how the game works and what the fans want.
If there’s a point to Emily in Paris, it’s largely about looking at pretty people wearing insane fashion and running around the most picturesque parts of the city with the most romantic reputation in the world. It’s Sex and the European City. This is a page straight out of Sarah Jessica Parker’s red carpet playbook circa 2000 to 2010. Give them something to gawk at and make it fashion. She doesn’t default to the ’60s styling too often, which makes it notable when she does. Some stars look so insanely suited to specific period styles that it’s best for them to avoid getting locked into them lest they come off suited only for period work. She only pulls that Audrey trigger every once in a while and we think she’s smart to do it that way. If we’re being honest, we think the pattern and color story are kind of ugly, but the shape is so much fun and her hair and makeup look so great that it doesn’t much matter.
Black sheer tights are officially back at this point. Too many instances in this month alone to call it anything but a hot trend.
