Madonna is V Magazine’s Latest cover star! The visionary changed pop as we know it, in a 40-year career powered by constant innovation. After the release of her thrilling new concert/documentary and art film ‘Madame X’, chronicling the tour of her 14th studio album under the same name, Madonna continues to prove that she is as fearless as ever.

Shot through the lens of photographer and longtime collaborator Steven Klein, the inimitable icon gets captured by Klein in an homage to the glamor and tragedy of Marilyn Monroe, inspired by Bert Stern’s ‘‘The Last Sitting”—the photoshoot Marilyn sat for just before her tragic death.

On the dangers of cancel culture: “The thing is the quieter you get, the more fearful you get, the more dangerous anything is. We’re giving it power by shutting the f*ck up completely.”

On the struggles of the Madame X Tour: “Everyone told me not to do it because it was too ambitious. Because there were too many people on the stage. I was trying to tell too many stories. I was trying to share too much of the things that I love in one space and time.”

On staying on top of her game, even at age 63: “I don’t even think about my age, to tell you the truth. I just keep going. Even when I performed almost my entire tour in agony, I had no cartilage left in my right hip, and everyone kept saying, “You gotta stop, you gotta stop.” I said, “I will not stop. I will go until the wheels fall off.”
