We tried watching Only Murders in the Building, the limited series on Hulu in which Selena Gomez stars (along with some guys named Steve Martin and Martin Short) and we just couldn’t get into it. Maybe because the entire hook of the series – obsessed fans of true crime podcasts – doesn’t really resonate for us because we don’t listen to true crime podcasts. Anyway, we’re saying this because the critics really seem to love it and Miss Selena’s taking something of a victory lap for her work on this one. She’s riding the good buzz right now. Such times call for both a walking-in and walking-out look for your talk show visits. We’re just a little confused as to why she’d pick such similar looks.

Cute! Love the sweater, love the sandals. It’s a relatively simple (as celebrity looks go) ensemble that’ll take a good picture but not require too much fuss. It clearly travels well. We can understand why she’d want to wear something like this for the walk-in.

But we don’t get why she’d wear it when her walking-out look is just a more high-end, flashier version of the same thing. When these pictures came over on the wire, we didn’t realize at first that we were looking at two different ensembles. You got cameras on you, girl. You’ve gotta mix up the lewks a little. We can understand opting for the Versace on set (it looks better while she’s sitting down, which is always the first consideration for a talk show look), but we’d have told her to wear a red dress on the way in.
