Dame Maggie Gyllenhaal has come out of seclusion to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award at Cannes.

Sorry, none of that’s true, but we just can’t help calling her Dame Maggie Gyllenhaal when she’s in a dress like this:

It’s a weensy bit on the mature side, is what we’re saying. Not a terrible design by any means. Some might even call it classic. And we’d be the last two queens to suggest that Maggie go against her preferences and wear something youthful or trendy. Those two words just look weird under any picture of her. It’s so not who she is. Even so, we’re having a hard time loving this. Classic and mature we can accept, but this looks like something Ginger Rogers would’ve worn to the 1987 Oscars.

Are we terrible people? Rhetorical question. The real question is as follows:
