Lil Nas X said “Happy Pride!” Twice! We’re not sure we have much commentary to add to these pictures except to say once again “GOD, we love this kid.”
We tried for an unhealthily long period of time to choose a favorite from these two looks, but we found it nearly impossible to do so. It’s a gorgeous look that tells one hell of a story and provides an unforgettable image. The very concept of a Black queer man wearing a Marie Antionette-inspired garment with an 18th Century upper class female silhouette is revolutionary in a lot of ways. That he could do that and still come off sexy and cheeky about it is pretty stunning.
This one is only slightly less revolutionary because it’s based on recognizable menswear shapes. It doesn’t push the envelope as much as the previous look, but it’s still a boldly queer look that rejects traditional masculinity as loudly as it can, putting all the emphasis on tradtionally feminine design details like pink roses and lace. Just a gorgeous look all around. Possibly our fave of the two but only by a hair.
