Did our early-morning editorial meeting include gay gasps and the excited flapping of hands? Perhaps a little. We don’t have the energy for sustained performances of Gay Glee, but trust that we were thrilled to see Miss Janelle back in front of our eyes, displaying an absolute serve of a look.

And of course, being the pro and the drama queen (in the good sense) that she is, she’s making sure you get a good luck at every single detail, down to each ring on her fingers. It’s a relatively simple design, but she’s working it for maximum impact. She’s never had a problem posing on a red carpet, but while we’re still stuck in this red carpetless time, we’d like to point out how much we appreciate that these home photo shoot substitutions allow for a lot more play in the posing, resulting in the best possible way of showcasing the entire ensemble. We’ll be back to a world of frozen smiles on step-and-repeats with corporate logo covered backdrops in no time, so we should all appreciate this time of backyards, gardens, balconies, five-star hotel suites and stars just having fun while playing dressup in front of their style team and one photographer. We’re going to miss all this when it’s back to a million flashing lights and stars cycling through a pose routine with slightly startled looks on their faces.

Anyway, Janelle Monae looks stunning here. Maybe we buried the lede, but honestly, it almost goes without saying.
