Kittens, if it could be said that there’s an upside to *gestures at everything* ALL OF THIS, then at least the stars have the freedom to get a little more dressed up to do the Sundance Film Festival press tour rounds. In a so-called “normal” year, Miss Ruth might be doing press for her new film in snow boots and parkas rather than cute dresses and sharp suits.

These super-twee tea towel dresses from Rodarte are hellaciously difficult to pull off, but if you look like Betty Boop without even trying, you’ve definitely got a leg up on the other girls. And speaking of legs, we think the red tights are a brilliant way to style this in a more modern, slightly more editorial way that suits her. But we wonder if the dress looks a bit too lightweight to be paired with such focus-pulling tights. Still, it’s amazing how good she is at giving a dress like this some life and attitude.

We shouldn’t be surprised that she can pull of chic, slouchy modern suiting just as easily as she can pull off Depression Era Chorus Girl drag, but we really don’t see her in it all that often. This looks fantastic on her. It’s as simple as the previous look was fussy and we’re thrilled that we can see her feet (since the trend has been to keep them hidden of late), even if we do think an inch needs to come off those hems.
