Miss Cynthia continues to pretend that the world is nothing but a succession of red carpets and talk show sets, just waiting for her to stroll out and sell you her latest project. Since she’s got two of them coming out in the same month (NatGeo’s Genius: Aretha and the could-be-interesting/could-be-a-goofy mess Chaos Walking), we’ve been treated to quite the string of looks from one of the more interesting dressers in entertainment. She never does things quietly or half-assed. Whatever the occasion or project, Miss Erivo is going to give you the FULL SERVE:

Is a LOT. But since she’s the queen of “A LOT,” this feels perfectly on-brand for her. Personally, you’ll never convince us to love a pair of water-color print pants, but she’s so good at working these sorts of loudly discordant ensembles. The sweater is fantastic. If she’d paired it with — we don’t know… a matching red skirt, let’s say — it just wouldn’t feel true to her. Still, we should note that this is purely ripped-from-the-look book styling, which is never our favorite approach.

One thing’s for sure: her tastes are so off-the-beaten path that she’s absolutely never in danger of stepping out in something some other ladystar wore. We’d be shocked if we ever saw those pants again. We’d love to see someone interpret that top a little more, though.
