Kittens, what are we all gonna do during this hunkered-down yuletide? Well, if you’re like most of us, you’ll probably sit on the couch looking for something to watch while eating your feelings. And while we can’t supply you the sustenance needed for the latter, we CAN do what God put us on this earth to do – give opinions – and let you know what looks good and what doesn’t on the holiday viewing front, with a focus on a few things that caught our eye.

First up, Tom had thoughts on Tenet, which is now available on VOD. Those thoughts are neither plaudits nor pans, but there is a tiny bit of annoyance expressed regarding some of the pretensions of the film and how it wasted some very good actors.

Then we both weighed in on Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, now streaming on Netflix. Why Viola Davis’ performance was both brave and brilliantly constructed. Why the makeup thrilled us so much and how it differed from period makeup in other recent films. And of course, why Chadwick Boseman deserves all the nominations for his luminous, attention-grabbing performance.

And then there’s Bridgerton, dropping on Christmas day on Netflix, making it our choice for the absolute perfect holiday binge. Sexy, beautiful to look at, addictive and funny, it will push all your entertainment buttons while serving you jewels, gowns and gorgeous men.

All that plus a few more thoughts on Wonder Woman 1984 that didn’t make it into our review and also Tom’s rant about the season finale of The Mandalorian and why he may never watch the show again.

Consider yourselves fully set up with opinions and options, darlings! Let us know your thoughts on any of these shows or films once you see them and have a happy, safe and healthy holiday. Thank you for all your support!
