Designer Payal Khandwala launched her eponymous label in 2012 because as she tells it, she sensed a need “within the Indian fashion landscape a lack of clothes with a spirit that is distinctly India Modern, an absence of easy, minimal separates that were an extension of her own personality.” Three flagship stores and over 75 new employees later, the successful brand can boast results that have been exactly as she described: modern, easy, minimal and Indian; simply gorgeous separates utilizing boldly beautiful textiles, rendered in shapes that evoke the traditional but face the future. Stunningly beautiful work.
