Whew! We can all relax! We found her.
There she fucking is. Our Good Lady Cate, as we know and love her. A Butterfly Couture Queen.
Look, we’re all for taking a sober, responsible, sustainable approach to your red carpet style – up to a point – especially if that point intersects the two lines labeled “Cate Blanchett” and “at the Venice Film Festival.” There are expectations, is what we’re saying here. We had hopes that she was saving up something major for the closing ceremonies and the GLC, she did not disappoint. This is spectacular, but more to the point, it’s styled brilliantly. It looks fabulous over the black-and-red gown – so much better than the runway look. This is still rather low-key for her, what with the relative lack of jewelry and the minimal hair and makeup work, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. While we think the right wearer could combine this look with some high-glam styling worthy of it, there’s something to be said for restraint – if you can call wearing something this head-turning such a thing. Whatever the case, we are thankful for these gifts, Good Lady Cate.
