WERQ From Home: Mindy Kaling in Tanya Taylor, Mara Hoffman and Tory Burch

We don’t know if Miss Mindy actually heard or read our oft-repeated plea to celebritykind to “just borrow some cute clothes and walk around your pool or something,” but we’re glad the message somehow trickled down to her. Or maybe she just got bored and came up with the idea to do a little backyard modeling on her own for her Instagram (including an actual poolside fashion shot). Whatever route she took, we appreciated that she arrived at this destination. Since none of this is strictly promotional except in that vague sort of “look at me” way that really is a routine part of any working celebrity’s job, we can’t bring ourselves to be critical. We own the fact that we’re enormously judgmental bitches, but even we can’t rag on a gal wearing a dress in her backyard. She’s having fun with it and we refuse to be poo-flinging monkeys about it.

Not that we have to restrain ourselves in any way. There’s not really anything to critique here. It’s a cute dress with some slightly over-the-top accessories that nevertheless make perfect sense for a backyard insta-modeling session. If you’re going to go to the trouble, may as well have some fun with it.

This is actually surprisingly chic, from head to toe. Love the sandals and hoops. She tends toward bright colors in her style, but she looks great in neutrals too.

The best of the lot, easily. Again, the accessories are just a bit over-the-top (or would be on a red carpet or standard photoshoot), but if a gal’s gonna play backyard dressup, she may as well load herself up. Besides, we love all the blues with that bright orange.
