Shamaeel Ansari has been a Pakistani fashion leader since the ’90s, when she made her name through a series of fashion shows staged in dramatic, historically significant settings such as Hindu Gymkhana in Mumbai and the Karachi city railway station. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley after studying finance and corporate law and is the winner of the Lux Style Award 2011 for Achievement in Fashion and serves on the board of directors of the Asian Institute of Fashion Design and Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design where she lectures on both the technical and business sides of fashion design and fashion merchandising. She was also the chairperson of the Fashion Pakistan Council from 2010 -2013 and now serves as an advisor to the Council. All of that tells you that she has an impressive resume, but none of that prepares you for the grandeur and luxury of her designs. It is at this point that your not-so-humble hosts shut their mouths and let the work – and the artistry – do the talking.
