WERQ From Home: Katy Perry in Richard Quinn and Cecilie Bahnsen on “American Idol”

Miss Katy continues to do the WERQ of being a celebrity in these uncertain times. Attention must be paid – not just because she’s still putting the style effort in without benefit of any of her regular hair, makeup or clothing team members being in the same room with her, but she’s doing it while in the middle of a baby-baking project, which is a time when even bitchy bloggers such as we would give her a pass for slacking off. And if all that weren’t enough reason to shout Huzzahs in her direction, she’s managing to stay pretty on brand with her choices. In other words, the results may be slightly less intense than the average red carpet or photo call efforts, but they’re still recognizably the Katy Perry style we’ve come to expect from her.

Both looks trade in that sort of cartoon candy aesthetic for which she’s best known, but there’s a nicely grownup quality to both looks as well. Personally, we think the daisy print dress called for white instead of black accessories, but that’s a minor quibble. As we said, girlfriend put the effort in and respect needs to be paid. Also: as much as we tend to dislike those oversized baby doll dresses, it’s perfect for maternity wear and opting to go without shoes actually lent the look a bit of an unlikely earth mama kind of feel to it that suits her.
