For Town & Country magazine, Claire Danes is interviewed by designer and her friend of two decades, Zac Posen. Claire Danes opens up about her pride for the final season of “Homeland,” why she quit Instagram, how Uma Thurman helped her at the 2016 Met Gala, and much more.
On her pride for the final season of Homeland: “I am. I feel good about the arc of the final season. I really have allowed myself to feel proud. I think it’s amazing that we’ve managed to maintain the integrity of the show for this long.”
On her love for her Homeland co-stars: “Mandy Patinkin is my rock. He’s been an amazing partner throughout all of this. Lesli [Linka Glatter] is just a dynamo, and Alex Gansa, our showrunner, is brilliant and a very good leader. We were really lucky in that it was a healthy culture.”
On why she quit Instagram: “It was starting to encroach a little bit too much onto my intimate mental space. You know what I mean? I would think, “Oh, is that Instagrammable or not?” I was starting to see everything through that filter, and I didn’t like it. It just got to be too loud.”
On which actress helped Danes with her dress at the 2016 Met Gala: “I was careful not to imbibe any liquids, because the bathroom situation was not easy. I remember I went in there before it was too crowded, and Uma Thurman was in the bathroom and she helped me.”
On letting go of nostalgia for old New York: “That’s how New York works, so I don’t begrudge it. It’s not ever yours, it’s everybody’s. That’s why it’s great.”
