The very best thing about Miss Lupita’s promotional style is that she has a pop star’s ability to constantly switch up her look, keeping red carpet bitch-commenters like us on our toes at all times. You just never know what kind of look she’s going to pull out next. Following the success of her charm initiative promoting her children’s book (and a brief stop to remind BAFTA that she’s a Serious Artist) she’s back facing the Academy to remind them that she gave one hell of a performance this year in Us, which means it’s time to skip the pre-school teacher drag and head straight to the attention-seeking Hollywood actress getups. Enter Givenchy, with an eye-popper of a gown:
You can’t even tell what kind of hair she’ll be sporting from look to look. She switches it up every time in service to what she’s wearing, treating it like an accessory.
As for the gown, it’s certainly something to look at. We don’t actually love it, because the colors are almost luridly vivid that the florals look like paper cutouts, giving it all a feel that’s way too crafty in tone for Givenchy. Still, you can’t take your eyes off her and that’s the whole point. Also: the earrings are stunners.
