We don’t know what surprises us more, that Miss Lupita is executing perfect children’s book author costume design or that she’s been using Michael Kors to do it. We say “costume design” because this is more like a romantic comedy movie version of how a children’s book author should dress, all sweetness and whimsy crossed with grownup sophistication. Knowing how good she and her stylist are at building cohesive looks to promote certain projects, we really shouldn’t have been so surprised she’s nailing this so much. And knowing how often we’ve declared that Kors should be one of the top three go-tos for any celebrity woman planning a publicity tour. His stock in trade is good, classic American sportswear that looks appealing to (and on) a vast range of people along with classic old-school glamour in the Hollywood sense.

Now we want a Lupita rom-com where all she does is dash about in New York wearing Michael Kors. We suppose there should be a plot, not to mention a romantic interest, but let’s face it: neither would matter to us.
