Meghan and Harry’s Low-Key ’19 Royal Tour continues and the Duchess is sticking to the game plan: Keep it simple, keep it practical, and keep it as far from ostentatious as possible.
At the Auwal Mosque in Capetown
Visiting a mosque isn’t exactly a high-fashion moment – or at least, it doesn’t have to be if the participants don’t want it to. Clearly, they’re keeping things respectfully casual. We think a big part of the reason for this, aside from the reasons we outlined this morning, is because she doesn’t want to make this trip about her fashion choices. While we agree with her reasons for wanting to play down any pomp and pageantry, we think there’s room for her to use the fashion press to her advantage. This is fine, of course, but it’s deliberately dull.
At the British High Commissioner’s Reception
As she did yesterday, she’s recycling looks from her Australian tour last year. This is perfectly serviceable and she looks great in it. Clearly this wasn’t a formal event so she’s on point. As we did when she wore it the first time, we find ourselves wishing the colors were a bit more vibrant.
