‘Golden Girls’ Creatives Spill the Tea on Bitter Feud Between Betty White and Bea Arthur — and Making a Classic Anyway
“Those two couldn’t warm up to each other if they were cremated together,” said co-producer Marsha Posner Williams during a Pride LIVE! Hollywood panel celebrating the 40th anniversary of the groundbreaking comedy.

Co-producer Marsha Posner Williams brought up a topic that has been much-discussed and speculated on: whether Arthur and White got along in real life.
“When that red light was on [and the show was filming], there were no more professional people than those women, but when the red light was off, those two couldn’t warm up to each other if they were cremated together,” she quipped. Arthur “used to call me at home and say, ‘I just ran into that c” — meaning White, using the c-word — “at the grocery store. I’m gonna write her a letter,’ and I said, ‘Bea, just get over it for crying out loud. Just get past it.’”

Jodie Comer: ‘On the other side of fear is growth. I’m always trying to dare myself to go there’
The 28 Years Later star chats to Glamour about channelling rage, embracing fear, and what it’s like to scream at Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

28 Years Later is actor Alfie Williams’ big-screen debut, a colossal achievement for the 14-year-old from Gateshead. “I think we both felt protective of Alfie, especially Aaron,” Jodie tells me. “Aaron had a lot of stunt rehearsals and stuff (with Alfie), so they spent even more time together. It was just important for him to feel comfortable.
“From the moment I met Alfie, he seemed to have such an instinct, a confidence and a fearlessness, actually, which I was like, ‘Wow’, I’m inspired by that. I want to harness some of that for me.”

‘The Waterfront’: The Heartbreaking True Story Behind Netflix’s Latest Dark Crime Thriller Family Drama
The show’s creator, Kevin Williamson, drew on his upbringing for inspiration for the series.

There’s something about a TV series that sees a family struggle to maintain their dominance as their empire begins to crumble that we can’t quite get enough of. And Netflix’s latest series The Waterfront on June 19 is all about this.
Said to be a blend of Succession, Outer Banks and Ozark, the eight part series follows the Buckley family living in the fictional coastal city of Haventown, North Carolina. After becoming a prominent family in the region following their success in operating fishing and restaurant businesses, they take drastic measures to stay afloat when hardship strikes.

The Interiors In Netflix’s ‘Dept. Q’ Have Main Character Energy: Why They’re More Significant Than You Might Think
The crime drama has everyone gripped, but we can’t stop looking at the carpets.

If you’re watching Dept. Q the latest police drama on Netflix, then you’re probably trying to figure out solicitor Merritt Lingard’s fate or wondering what Season 2 will entail. Or, like us, you could be so fixated on the interiors that you’re too distracted to concentrate on the crimes in question.
At first glance the interiors are dark, cold and gritty – see: the basement urinals where Detective Carl Morck (played by Matthew Goode) and his micro-team have to set up office. But look closer, and the interiors are stylised, atmospheric and we’d quite like to recreate some of them at home. Plus, they have their own main character energy and play a big part in creating the edginess of the drama.

Are white trainers out? All the fashion girlies are now wearing this trendy colour
These trainers are a must-have of the summer

While white trainers are simply one of the classics that will probably never go out of fashion, a scroll through Instagram has shown that a particular colour has taken over, at least for the summer, one that can be styled in many different ways.
Every year, the Pantone Colour Institute selects the “Colour of the Year”, setting off trends that not only influence graphic and interior design, but of course also the fashion. For 2025, the Institute has proclaimed “Mocha Mousse” as the colour to know, an earthy brown tone that stands for calm, stability and conscious retreat.
Many labels and designers have been inspired by the “Colour of the Year” and have integrated brown in all its facets into their current collections. Naturally, the trainer world has also caught on. Whether in “mocha mousse”, light brown, almost beige tones or deep dark brown, trainers in these hues are everywhere right now. Flat suede styles with a retro look are particularly popular and can currently be seen non-stop on the feet of fashion insiders around the world.

There’s nothing left of Emily in this Lily Collins look, it’s all Paris
Finally, a look that Sylvie Grateau would approve of.

Lily Collins’ latest look is her least “Emily” and most “Paris” yet. In fact, Emily Cooper’s distinctive vintage camera-shaped phone case—and the rest of the surrounding camera equipment—is the only clue that Collins was immersed in filming Emily in Paris season five.
The upcoming new season sees the story move back to the French capital after a brief vacation in Rome. With a renewed version of her bob cut, just about at jaw length and with the ends combed forward.
Gone are the tilted berets, loud prints and impossible volumes. They have given way to a neat and discreet silhouette with which we could easily imagine any Parisian publicist. Finally, a style that Sylvie Grateau would no doubt approve of.

Charity Begins at Home: The Saga of Royal Rent and Monarchs As Landlords
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage is just the latest installment in a long, colorful history of royal housing drama

From reports that King Charles III will evict his disgraced brother Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from the 30-room Royal Lodge to the announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage (which Prince Andrew has reportedly been offered), talk of the royal real estate merry-go-round has never seemed juicier.
Prince Harry’s tell-all Spare didn’t make things any better either. In the best-selling memoir, Harry complains that his brother was given a bigger room at Balmoral, the late queen’s beloved 50,000-acre estate in the Scottish Highlands. He also writes of the embarrassment he and Meghan, then living in the relatively small Nottingham Cottage, felt when they visited Prince William and Kate Middleton at their museum-like four-story apartment in Buckingham Palace.

16 Must-Read Books About Greek Mythology and Other Folklore
From feminist retellings of classic tales to modernized takes.

From Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing series to the resurgence of Wicked, fantasy books have all but taken over the best-sellers lists as of late. And if you’re one of the readers who’s been gobbling them up at record speed (who could blame you?), we’re here to tell you that you don’t have to wait for Sarah J. Maas to drop the next A Court of Thorns and Roses book (IYKYK). There are plenty of imaginative mythology-inspired novels worth reading, and they feature all the gods, supernatural beings, and monsters you could ever want, while being rooted in a rich cultural tradition.
No, we’re not suggesting you revisit your seventh-grade English homework. All of the mythology books on this list are modernized retellings of tales from ancient times: Maybe they’re from the perspective of another character, or maybe they offer a female lens on a story that’s been male-centric for too long.

What Traditional Dance Reveals About a Travel Destination
For nearly 20 years, my worldview was shaped through the lens of dance. As an art form, maybe, but mostly as a culture of other dancers who guided me through all of adolescence’s most inelegant stages. Pirouettes were learned in tandem with what to do when you get your first period (which I eventually did, at an overnight dance retreat). It’s not so surprising, then, that dance is the cultural viscera I chase when traveling.
I’m no scholar, but it’s a safe assumption that the history of dance is shoulder-to-shoulder with other cultural expressions like painting or music—though I imagine it isn’t an easy task to chronicle ephemeral art from thousands of years ago. That said, there are paintings that prove dance dates back several millennia; a linchpin for rites of passage, wedding celebrations, spiritual ceremonies, and storytelling in communities all around the world. Some of these traditional dances remain private, while others have turned outward to tourism as one way to share and preserve their cultural heritage for posterity.

The acclaimed author and host of ‘Yan Can Cook’ shares his noodle know-how.

From earthy soba and bouncy udon to stir-fried egg noodles hot out of the wok, noodles are among the world’s most versatile and popular ingredients, according to renowned Chinese-American chef Martin Yan.
“Literally every single culture has [a form of] noodle,” he says. Yan would know. He’s authored dozens of cookbooks and hosted more than 3,500 episodes of his iconic TV program, Yan Can Cook. Over the course of his career, Yan has cultivated a deep expertise with noodles, especially within Asian cuisine.

From Illicit to Iconic: The Rum Runner Is Florida’s Most Enduring and Misunderstood Drink
Before it was a drink, it was a job dealing in illegal trades.

Florida’s colorful cocktail history starts with a coastline made for smuggling, a generation of seafaring outlaws, and the heady promise of Caribbean rum just beyond the reach of U.S. law. During Prohibition, boats would anchor just outside the government’s jurisdiction — what became known as Rum Row — and runners would ferry barrels of illicit spirits to waiting customers onshore.
One of the most infamous, “Captain” Bill McCoy made his runs between Bimini and South Florida and became known for selling uncut, unadulterated liquor, earning him the legacy behind the phrase “the real McCoy.”
This shadowy underworld of Prohibition pirates became the first puzzle piece I traced while researching and writing my book, Florida Cocktails. What I discovered wasn’t just a story of smuggling but one of identity. Rum wasn’t just contraband; it was culture. And eventually, it became the foundation of one of the Sunshine State’s most enduring, misunderstood drinks: the Rum Runner.

Follow the New Wave of Italian Trattorias From Piedmont to Sicily
Chefs across Italy are reinvigorating the classic restaurant format — with delicious results.

Many years ago, after touring some of Europe’s most revered restaurants, Alberto Bettini decided to shake things up at his family trattoria back in Savigno, in the hills outside Bologna. He didn’t turn the place into something pretentious. Instead, he took the painstakingly high standards of fine dining that he’d witnessed on his trip and applied them to every aspect of his restaurant — the suppliers, service, kitchen, and communication. But the core remained untouched: fresh pasta made in-house, housemade ragù, the best meats and seasonal specialties, and a strong connection to the region around it. […] In Italy, the term trattoria traditionally refers to a specific type of restaurant — less formal than a ristorante, more substantial than an osteria. Typically, they are small, casual, family-owned places that focus on regional dishes. But lately, they’ve been enjoying an extraordinary renaissance, and Da Amerigo and Consorzio have seen many others following in their footsteps, resulting in a countrywide movement of contemporary trattorias.

Why Rachel Zegler Has London Raving — and Ranting — About Her ‘Evita’ Stage-to-Street Performance
The young actress is currently breaking theater’s fourth wall by performing to a busy London street — and away from paying audiences — on the Palladium balcony every night.

Rachel Zegler is starring in one of London’s hottest West End productions right now, as former first lady of Argentina Eva Perón, in Evita.
Posters are plastered around the city and ads line the tube (the London subway), but there’s one creative decision that may be doing a better job at marketing the show than anyone imagined, luring hundreds of spectators to the London Palladium every night.
Director Jamie Lloyd — considered playhouse royalty after his revival of Sunset Boulevard, as well as the Tom Holland-starring Romeo and Juliet — is breaking the fourth wall of theater by having Zegler, star of Snow White and West Side Story, perform live to the street outside.

Carrie Coon on Life After ‘Lotus’
48 hours after dodging the blistering Thailand sun on Mike White’s sprawling set, the 44-year-old star strapped herself back into a corset to play a crafty 19th-century social climber in ‘The Gilded Age.’

When Carrie Coon was in Thailand filming The White Lotus, she had a lot on her mind. Trying not to sweat on camera in the nearly triple-digit temperatures. Preparing to deliver her pivotal monologue that would serve as a thesis for the entire season. Staying in touch with her family across the world in New York. But also: staying completely out of the sun.
Coon had only 48 hours between her last day on the Lotus set and her first day of shooting season three of The Gilded Age, and it was imperative that she arrive looking like a socialite in the 1880s and not a modern-day lawyer fresh off a weeklong vacation in southeast Asia.

Barbra Streisand on the Duets That Define Her: ‘I Like Drama’
With a new album due next week that pairs her with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Laufey, Sam Smith and more, the singer looks back at her prized collaborations.

To Barbra Streisand, a duet isn’t just a song. “It’s a dramatic process,” she said. “It’s wondering who is this guy in the song? Who is this girl? What’s happening with them?”
Figuring that out plays straight into Streisand’s core identity as an artist. “I’m an actress first,” she added. “I like drama.”
Small wonder she has performed character-driven duets so often, so creatively and with such commercial success. In October 1963, following the release of Streisand’s debut album, Judy Garland invited her to appear in an episode of her TV show; their joint performance all but anointed the younger as her vocal heir.

DC’s Man of Tomorrow: James Gunn on Superman, Gods and Monsters, and what’s next
The writer/director of this summer’s “Superman” and the co-head of DC Studios offers a peek behind the curtain.

James Gunn is a man with a plan.
After making the Guardians of the Galaxy movies for Marvel, he’s spearheading a new age for DC as a co-head of the studio with his longtime collaborator Peter Safran. Superman, coming to theaters July 11, is the first big-screen event in this envisioned connected universe of movies and TV series.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with Gunn on May 22 for an in-depth cover story on Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Below are excerpts from that conversation, most of which are not included in that feature piece.
From his active social media presence to upcoming projects, such as HBO’s Lanterns and what filmmaker Matt Reeves has planned for The Batman Part II, to titles coming even further down the line, Gunn previews the future of the DCU.

To help, we tapped several entertaining experts who shared their best tips for setting an outdoor table in a way that’s convenient for you and your guests.

This Is The Most Expensive Tourist City in the U.S.—and It’s a Year-round Destination
A new study, which includes data from Travel + Leisure, reveals where domestic travel costs the most.

When you’re on a budget, it is always good to know where the cheapest beaches, hotels, and flights can be found. For those looking to save money—or inversely, those wanting to spend it—it can also be helpful to know where the most expensive destinations are. A new study from GOBankingRates revealed five most expensive U.S. tourist destinations, proving that you don’t need to leave the country in order to put a lot of pressure on your wallet.
To determine which cities were the priciest, GOBankingRates analyzed 91 of the top U.S. destinations, as determined by Travel + Leisure reporting, and narrowed it down to 55 cities. Then, using census data, Numbeo’s cost of living tool, they determined how much it would cost for two adults to visit the location for three nights, eating meals at a mixture of mid-range and inexpensive restaurants, and how much it costs for domestic beer. Average hotel and flight prices were also factored in.
