Controversial choices abound, darlings! In a move no one in the universe predicted, your ol’ pals T & Lo chose a PRAIRIE DRESS and a PILE OF RUFFLES as their picks of the week! What the hell is WRONG with us?

T’s Pick: Ruth Negga in Gucci at the “Ad Astra” Los Angeles Premiere

T’s Defense: Personally, I’m not feeling a strong compulsion to defend the choice of a prairie dress since this is about as far from Laura Ingalls Wilder as you could get. For me, it’s about taking a basic silhouette and rendering it explosively modern and eye-catching through color, texture, and embellishment. And it’s also about the dress finding its wearer because I don’t think anyone could’ve made this work the way Ruth did. One of the most interesting looks I’ve seen in a long time.

Lo’s Pick: Priyanka Chopra in Marchesa at Toronto Film Festival’s “The Sky Is Pink” Premiere

Lo’s Defense: I’m not sure I can explain why, but I kept wandering back to this dress all week. I don’t always love Marchesa’s aesthetic, but I do appreciate it when they manage to marry chicness and restraint to their brand of romance and exuberance. I know we said she looked like a squid squirting defensive ink, but the more I take this dress in, the more its sort of spooky romance appeals to me.

There you have it, voting kittens! Sparkly prairies or spooky romance! What a conundrum! However will you vote, we wonder?
