Talk about a victory lap. Miss Phoebe had herself a night.
We’re very jealous of all those people who didn’t listen to us when we said “You really need to watch Fleabag,” because now they’re probably going to and they get to experience it all for the first time. Season 2 is a nearly perfect season of television with an ending that broke our hearts in ways we didn’t think the medium was capable of – and that’s all due to her, both as a writer and a performer.
We think she’s one of the most innately chic-in-the-classical-sense women working in entertainment at the moment. She has that It quality that makes everything she wears seem instantly more stylish, eye-catching and elegant than it would be otherwise. This dress is a big nothing but it looks much better on her than it has a right to. We would have loved to have seen her in something sharper, something that plays to her strengths a bit more, but she’s making this work for her, even it is a little bland. Or maybe the armful of Emmys makes it look better.
