There have been more than a few questionable rainbows this PRIDE season. From some seriously dicey corporate branding to some ticky-tacky low-budget fashion lines, everyone tried to cash in on the rainbow this year, it seems. Billy Porter won the rainbow race by a mile, but we have to admit, we have a special fondness for Steffi’s getup here, especially the way it combines both drag and militaristic touches, as if she were declaring herself a soldier in some sort of sparkly queer army. We wouldn’t dream of critiquing someone’s PRIDE ensemble, but we can say that Gaga, to no surprise, got hers exactly right for the occasion. This is fun and fabulous.
