For those of you just joining us (and shame on you), the Dockery Maneuver (named after Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery) is when the star of a period film or television show – especially the kind with English accents and corsets – dresses in the most modern outfits they can find in order to remind the world that they are more than their characters and also hot.

We’re very tired of seeing ribbed white tank tops on male stars promoting their work, but photo calls aren’t formal affairs and besides, he looks really cute in this getup. The outfit’s only so-so,  but the boots are great and the grooming is perfection.

NICOLA COUGHLAN IN MISHO

This is a LOT for a photo call, but she’s been stuck in hideous dresses for the previous two seasons so we don’t blame her for going hard on her fashion now that the spotlight’s on her. We’re not sure the black dress under it is the best choice, but the corset is so stunning that it doesn’t matter. Love the heart locket.
