The red carpet pickins this week, in case you haven’t noticed have been … we were going to say “dire,” but that’s not quite it. “Nonexistent” would be more accurate. Fortunately, when the good lord closes a red carpet, somewhere he opens up a talk show. Or something. Our point: even without a red carpet, hard-working celebs still have to put on something noteworthy and head on out for the never-ending poledance known as stardom.

Anyway, here’s Selena in a cute but overdesigned dress.

The shoulder ruffles are terrible and completely unnecessary. That print is busy enough. It doesn’t need a couple of ruffles to make things migraine-inducing. Aside from that, we have no crits or complaints. Turn that neckline into a halter and raise the hem a few inched and you have a perfect summer frock. As it is, it’s a really cute dress that looks great on camera.
