Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony Red Carpet Rundown

Darlings, the drag queens weren’t the only ones serving ELEGANZA on the red carpet and Miss Elle Fanning wasn’t the only glamour goddess at Cannes. We’d say all of these ladies brought their red carpet A games (as one would expect for Cannes), but some of them did better than others. Let’s assess, shall we?

That’s one of the most conventionally glamorous looks we’ve ever seen her wear (which is saying something considering how unconventional this is) but the bust design is just awful. We love the sleeve/glove things, but the boob area is too distracting and odd-looking.

It’s not reinventing any wheels but it looks pretty great on her. We think the beading, twisting and draping are all overdone and we don’t love the pink color story particularly, but Cannes style, it seems to us, straddles a line between glamorous elegance and just a little tacky. Hate those pointy-toed sandals, though. They just look like a trip hazard to us.

Sometimes a fairly plain design is the right way to go if the color and style suit you this well. We don’t love the way her arms look pinned down and we think she could’ve used an up do and a heavier necklace, but you can’t deny how good that color looks on her.

Sorry, but that skirt looks like an ironing board cover. We like everything from the belt up, which is giving us a ’90s Madonna vibe that’s perfect for her, but the bottom half is not so great.
