Darlings, now that you’re all arguing about the (second) best-dressed man at this year’s Oscars, we’re gonna throw our picks for two of the most drop-dead ladylewks from the same red carpet. There were plenty of gorgeous gowns on that red carpet, but we each opted to go for the ones that stuck in our heads the most.

CATEGORY IS…

SHIMMER, GIRL! SHIMMER!

T’s Pick: Danai Gurira in Brock Collection at the 2019 Academy Awards

T’s Defense: Bow down to your golden queen. Everything about this look is spectacular; the rich textile, the stunning braids, the fabulous jewelry. Best of all, it looks like nothing else out there. In a year when the awards season red carpet may have gotten just a little too safe and a little too chic in the mainstream definition of the word, this stood out for being loud, regal, and exciting. Easily one of the best looks of the night and possibly one of the best looks of 2019, when all is said and done.

Lo’s Pick: Michelle Yeoh in Elie Saab Couture at the 2019 Academy Awards

Lo’s Defense: I like my shimmer with a little more nuance and expression, thank you very much. The Oscars always attracts metallics and shimmers, but Michelle grabbed a dress that utilizes those elements in a way that feels fresh and eye-catching. No one looked quite like this on the red carpet that night and I’ve never seen a skirt quite like that one. And the lady sure does love herself some jewelry.

There you have it, darlings! TWO QUEENS STAND BEFORE YOU.

Who won the red carpet womenswear showdown for the week of February 24th, 2019?
