Gearing up for her big Captain Marvel poledance, which should be launching any day now, Miss Brie took the occasion of the Oscars to do what all super-ladies do when they’ve got a super-lady movie coming out: metallics and primary colors. It’s very comic-booky without looking comic-booky and it translates well on the red carpet. After all, if you’re on a red carpet in a well-fitted shimmer dress or a well-fitted red dress, you’ve pretty much started with a leg up on the game.

Both of these looks are so similar in style that we’re going to simply let the pictures speak for themselves, rather than get into the nitty and the picky.

There’s not actually all that much to nitpick, after all. We’d be wasting our time bemoaning her lack of zhuzh or the need for more this or that. We’ve been documenting her style choices long enough to know that she very much prefers to keep things manageable and low-key in a sort of Jodie Foster professional-mode kind of way. Both of these dresses tick off a series of prerequisites for her, with just enough variation to keep them distinct. But high-glam or even high-profile dressing – not really her bag. This is a good enough compromise and we suspect the entire Captain Marvel promo tour will look pretty much like these two offerings. With maybe some blue and gold in the mix.
