Come bathe in a fountain of beauty, darlings! For we have now entered the sacred arena of the TOP TEN red carpet looks of the year. Per us, of course. Quibble over who should be placed where, but we are firm in our belief that every one of these looks deserve to be this close to the top.

10: Henry Golding in Tom Ford at the “Crazy Rich Asians” Singapore Premiere.

Sigh.

Let’s not ruin this one with words. Enjoy.

9: Danai Gurira in Jean-Louis Sabaji Couture at the “Black Panther” European Premiere.

QUEEN.

This is stunningly unforgettable and boldly stylish and photogenic. It couldn’t possibly suit anyone as well as it suits her. Every single thing about this look is perfect.

8: Lady Gaga in Valentino Couture at the “A Star Is Born” Venice Premiere.

The series of photographs taken of Gaga at this premiere is some of the best red carpet photography we’d seen all year. And this was one of the best image-management-through-fashion turns we’ve seen in several years. Cast your mind back to the days when Steffi was tottering around the sidewalks of the world in hoof shoes and art student fashion. This is her moment and she’s gonna grab it and make you all see her for the STAR she is. It’s old-school Hollywood in a very young-Streisand sort of way and that is no coincidence with this one.

7: Tilda Swinton in Chanel at the 2018 Berlinale International Film Festival.

In a year during which the ladytux enjoyed the biggest surge in trend popularity since Marlene Dietrich showcased it for the masses, Tilda managed to show everyone else up by turning it out in the chicest version yet.

6: Hailee Steinfeld in Balmain at the “Bumblebee” Los Angeles Premiere.

Yes, it’s true! Get up off the floor! Miss Hailee “Perpetual Red Carpet Disaster” Steinfeld is on our TOP TEN BEST list, kittens! We’re as shocked as you are! But 2018 saw more than its share of superhero/sci-fi/robot big-budget premiere red carpets and absolutely NO ONE managed a look that captured the digitally-rendered vibe of the film while staying drop-dead chic and without lapsing into costume. No one except Hailee, that is. The textbook definition of “nailing it.”
