Claire Foy Gets Washed Out at “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” Rome Photo Call

The celebrity style pickins today are not only slim, but come off like dim efforts next to the explosion of royal efforts that kicked off the morning. We figured if anyone can help us segue from the expectations of the royal life to the somewhat lesser expectations of your average celebrity poledance, it would be Miss Claire. But you should probably brace yourselves, because like a lot of her promo style, this is fairly disappointing.

First, we’ll say we kind of love the ’90s-esque head styling. Unforch, here endeth the complimentary portion of our program.

She doesn’t seem to have a good sense of what colors work best on her. We’d never have rec’d a nearly all white dress for her. We tend to hate side cutouts on sight, but even if we could be convinced on them, the high waist and cut of that skirt isn’t very flattering. If it’s at all possible that this dress could work, it’s not gonna be while she’s wearing it. We’re inclined to say it’s just not a good dress, but we’re willing to entertain the idea that this is a “Girl, that’s not your dress” moment, if someone could offer up a celebrity candidate better suited to it.

So let’s hear it.
