Jena Malone in Valentino at the “Love & Mercy” LA Premiere

Absolutely LOVE this dress, which seems utterly perfect for her. She likes to be a little edgy in her style and it’s paying off here. Not that this is avant-garde or punk rock or anything like that; just that this looks like a tough dress to pull off and she’s making it look effortless.

We’re not so keen on the Ruth Bader Ginsberg collar, but the above-the-knee hem is a huge improvement over the gown length. There’s so much going on with this dress that it’s better served by the much shorter skirt. Otherwise, it tends to get a little overwhelming or come across overdesigned.

The hair is tragique, however. As is the lip color. And we don’t even know what she was thinking with the metallic pink clutch (which really is a sentence everyone should get a chance to write at least once in their life). Strangely (because the other details are lacking), the shoes are fabulous and totally on point.
