Oooh, Miss Janelle stumbles a bit in this next iteration of her style evolution.
Janelle Monáe attends the 2015 Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner and Auction at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City wearing a Tracy Reese appliqué coat from the Fall 2015 collection paired with a black top, Vatanika wide-leg pants, a Rodo clutch, and Jennifer Fisher jewelry.
The coat is an absolute stunner, which isn’t too much of a surprise, considering how much she’s been killing it on the coats n’ capes front. And while we’re impressed by how well the reds match, the pants are not so great. For one, they look a little shiny. For another, they’re puckering at the thighs and are simply way too long in the hem. The top seems like an afterthought. But what really drives us a little nuts, in our charmingly OCD sorta way, is the necklace, which clearly shouldn’t be worn with that collar. It’s such a rookie mistake that we’re chalking it up to the flu or something. She hit her head, maybe. Whatever the reason, we’re prepared to forgive it because we’re just loving where she’s been going lately on the style front.
