For menswear designer Todd Snyder’s inaugural Fashion Week runway show, the looks ranged from fresh and modern takes on preppy, beachy classics in whites and creams, with lightweight sweaters over button-down shirts and loosely tailored shorts, to chic and moody urban looks, with t-shirts under sports coats and satin jackets over slim cut shorts, to something that managed to straddle both worlds, the short-panted suit.
Basically, for us, it was all about the shorts.
Not that there was anything lacking in the long-legged pants department, but the finely tailored and fitted shorts were what really made this collection for us, as well as the short-sleeved sweaters over dress shirts. Fun looks with a real sense of chic to them. We’re probably past the point in our lives when we can get away with short-panted suits, but damn, if we don’t want to give it a try after this. What makes Todd Snyder’s clothing so great is the impeccable tailoring, even in the casual looks.
And if nothing else, you’ve gotta give it up for the man’s taste in models.
