Emily Blunt has FINALLY joined her The Devil Wears Prada 2 co-stars in their relentless promo work, as she hit the red carpet for the New York premiere wearing something you can already tell is pretty cray. But you should brace yourselves for the cray to come, because this may just be a subtle bit of character cosplay at work.

Granted, we’re not convinced that she’d actually wear a hideous skirt in reference to her iconic “hideous skirt convention” line, but perhaps she’s feeling cheeky at the moment. Yes, we’re gonna make you vote on this insane thing, because perhaps it appeals to your sense of fun and whimsy? Or perhaps you just like ugly things and are no longer afraid to admit it? We’re teasing. We don’t actually hate this, although it’s so odd that we’re not yet convinced that we should like it. Our main issue with this design is that it’s trying to do too much. Our secondary issue is that we tend not to like any of the things it’s trying to do. That corseting can go right out. That weird sunburst thing doesn’t seem to serve a purpose except to obscure her jewelry. And we don’t quite get why you’d opt for a big, puffy skirt that mimics the outline of a pair of pants. But you know what this dress isn’t? Boring or generic or sheer or black. It’s also not concerned with theme-dressing or matching the film’s branding. Those are all major points in its favor, as is the unusualness and whimsy of the design. But is it pretty? Do you like it? Does she look good in it? Put more succinctly:
