Good old-fashioned celebrity promotional fashion, darlings! We’re in an age where the red carpet is being radically rethought, but no matter what venue or form it takes, it’s still about mostly ladystars wearing really expensive borrowed outfits, getting themselves all dolled up, and facing the cameras to silently suggest that you watch, buy or download their latest project. We’re open to all sorts of broad interpretations as to how to stage and shoot such scenarios, from backyard couture to Zoom calls to themed photo shoots. Miss Joey’s got a rom-com sequel dropping and her team pulled her together in a really cute little look, but we’re at a loss as to why it was art-directed to look like it’s about to become a crime scene.

SUPER-cute “My rom-com is dropping” kind of look, although we’d have liked to have seen it a bit more styled and interpreted instead of pulling most of the outfit from the brand look book. The one part that’s different is the footwear choice and we think they’re a bit too heavy. Even so, overall it’s fresh, it suits her, and it takes a great picture, which is more important than ever. Happy to see it. We just don’t get why they went for such a hostage-video aesthetic. We could see if she were promoting a horror movie or something, but this film’s a big pile of cotton candy:
That is a LOT of plot for one trailer.
